Recently I realised that transphobes dislike me not in spite of the fact that I'm wholesome tweedy lil children's poet bumbling around churches, but because of it. I make it harder for them to persuade people that all trans people want to eat babies, or whatever.

Here's the thing though, if you accept me because I'm this very wholesome seeming very binary trans guy who bumbles round churches in tweed jackets, but you think "edgy" trans people should "tone it down a bit" - you don't accept me. You don't accept trans people. Not really.

Nobody deserves to have fewer rights than anyone else because of any facet or expression of their gender. Nobody deserves to be discriminated against because of who they are. And nobody has any right to police anyone else's gender or deem them 'less than' because of it.

If you don't stand with non-binary trans people, then you don't stand with trans people. If you don't stand with trans people who shatter gender stereotypes, then you don't stand with trans people.

Just because someone is angry, doesn't mean they deserve discrimination. Just because someone is "difficult", doesn't mean they deserve discrimination. Just because someone lives a life you don't approve of or understand, doesn't mean they deserve discrimination.
