What I’ve gathered from other tweets is that this is a European thing... hotel key card goes in, electricity comes on. Remove the hotel key card when you leave and the electricity shuts off

I once did this in a hotel in Benidorm and left my co-op loyalty card behind! 
This is the problem! I've left my M and S credit card that way..
Unfortunately,some now use RFID tech which means u have to use the hotel card(s) they gave u or no power... :-/
Weird. All the places I’ve traveled I don’t remember ever having this.
I’ve never had it either and I stayed a month at a time traveling the EU.
