Hiring for my startup will be a combination of coding tests and cultural fit. I require a coding test, and if you refuse, you're hired, because you fit into my culture.

I actually don’t mind a coding test, just as long it isn’t a piece of work the company is looking to complete, or a bug they need to squash etc. What really annoys me is whiteboard exercises where irrelevant questions are asked

I like embedding someone on a team for half a day. Go through a standup, pair with someone on real work, etc. The best way to see if their way of work fits is to see them in real action.

This could be advantageous for both parties, but if you're a candidate applying to multiple companies it could be extremely time consuming

It is anyway. Last time I went job hunting I never had an interview that wasn’t at least half a day. Some were a whole day. Some multiple days.
