Please stop and read this. It’s from the Republican-led bipartisan Senate Intel Report Volume 5. It’s important we recognize what is happening. It was a landmark report and many of the same actors are still active and engaged.

  2. ps if a newsroom gets something wrong with Facebook, it gets scorched by FB comms (normally off record) and loses news opportunities in the future. I really don’t like that this may be getting mishandled because it’s a small nonprofit that was maligned. /eof

  3. And as always, if I have anything wrong here, tell me and I’ll own it but so far it’s been crystal clear and nearly 24hrs on a piece where they could have avoided by just reaching out for comment.

  4. And I’ll repeat to not be misunderstood, I’m a fan of buzzfeed. This is unusual for them in my experience. There is a lot going on right now. But it’s a mess and has served to help a company with 500+ comms/policy people and discredit one of their largest critics. Disappointed.

  5. Wow. After yrs of BuzzFeed building a highly respected news org, I’m just flummoxed how they’re handling this. Instead of saying “we got it wrong interpreting a tweet as supportive,” they’ve added the words, “appeared to cheer” and removed the actual comment which they owed RFOB.

Apple called the Epic Games antitrust verdict a “huge win.” It wasn’t. My story about why the App Store remains on shaky ground:

It’s basically like I took one word of a Buzzfeed tweet & wrote about what I thought it meant & used your photo to illustrate the story. And didn’t reach out to either you or Buzzfeed to check or ask for comment. Which would be weird, no?

You’ve got to be kidding. He literally wrote an entire piece based on his incorrect interpretation of the word “boom” in a tweet, never even reached out for comment on it but found time to go to FB/GOOG-defenders Goldman and Masnick for their comments? That’s absolute garbage.

When I was walking manhattan in September 2001, I couldn’t fathom there would ever be a day where America would be losing over 3k people in a day and not being doing everything humanly possible as united Americans to stop it.

A brilliant speech from former President Bush: "The passengers and crew of Flight 93 could have been any group of citizens selected by fate. In a sense, they stood in for us all. The terrorists soon discovered that a random group of Americans is an exceptional group of people."

Leadership over politics. Thank you for making this statement, President Bush.

Former President Bush in Shanksville compares Jan 6 insurrectionists to 9/11 hijackers:”in determination to defile our national symbols they are children of the same foul spirit and it is our duty to confront them.” Wow

Of course. Nearly anything in the public domain positive about Facebook is a result of $$$. Zero trust company.

So to recap. Google execs: 1. Identified the problem in 2019. 2. Identified that it was illegal and immoral. 3. Decided fixing it was too much hassle and instead to just try to not get caught. 4. Put all of this in writing. 5. No execs are likely to be leaving for this.

In any given year, I would never miss attending a game like Ohio St v Oregon but anyone who has experienced the ‘shoe with 110k people crammed in it (there is nothing like it) but it’s frankly irresponsible at this moment in September 2021.
