    Voting in 2020 is the ONLY way to defeat Trump. There is *nothing* else that will stop him. If you are terrified, go register people to vote. We do have disadvantages, but these disadvantages CAN be overcome w/ overwhelming VOTES.

    All in all, I ran too soft on Bernie and his campaign in this piece. They could win the nomination, but will lose the general. And either way, they're enabling more and more dangerous conspiracist garbage like in the above instances.

    The way he ran his campaign against HRC--both in content and in delaying endorsement--hurt the fight against Trump in 2016 and importantly, he's shown no contrition and is doubling down on some of the same behaviors.

    Democracy, civil society--the very conditions that enable a socialist movement to organize--are at risk, yet it is not the socialist candidate mounting a stirring defense against that threat. While Sanders nods in that direction, his tops hires and surrogates helps Trump in 2016.

    And what we are seeing is a conversion of the positive qualities that attract people to the socialist movement into a nihilistic rage. Booing and harassing the "liberal establishment" while shrugging at Trump (mocking impeachment, mocking Pelosi's tearing up of the speech).

    Conspiracy theory of the day: the US Democratic establishment don't want to beat Trump. They know only Bernie could actually win, & are terrified by even the mildest socialism. Trump gives them policies that favour the rich (themselves) & the chance to feel morally superior

    No. This isn't a lesson from Iowa since there's no conspiracy there. There's also no reason to think that if Bernie has the most delegates, he won't get the nomination. This conspiracism is dangerous and irresponsible and the comments it called forth are scary.

    Lesson from Iowa: Even if Bernie wins the most delegates over the next few months, we’re gonna have to bring at least a million people to Milwaukee this summer to have any chance of Bernie being the nominee.

    I looked over the delegate math and when you count the SDEs with the Aztec vigesimal number system and round down to Planck's Constant, you see that Bernie actually got 90% of the vote. I've sent several threatening letters to the DNC but have not gotten a response.

    5 years running, 100% name recognition, $50,000,000 blown already this cycle, and they’re celebrating that he’s 1/10th of a % behind the unknown Mayor of South Bend as though he’s about to win the presidency for a fifth term.

    Here comes Bernie! With 97% of precints reporting, all of a sudden, is only behind 26.1 to 26.2%. Almost caught him! Of course, he's not coming from behind, the voting actually took place what feels like months ago.

    Do these people grasp that if Bernie became president, he'd need Warren's vote for all legislation.

    At a pre-caucus party, a Bernie supporter did a call and response. “When I say ‘Fuck,’ you say ‘Warren!’” “Fuck,” he yelled. “Warren,” the audience answered back. He did the same for the other candidates. JFC.

    Have you people learned nothing from Corbyn? No amount of enthusiasm among the party selectorate can compensate for the wider public finding you toxic.

    Not sure how someone who has this much grassroots support, enthusiasm, sheer numbers, can so regularly be dismissed by Establishment Democrats and centrist pundits as not ‘electable’
