When it comes to planning, think sea chart, not roadmap. You identify the hazards and the strategic goal, but how you get there depends on which way the wind is blowing. You can plan all you want, but you can't control the wind.

Agile has nothing at all to do with Sprints, backlogs, fixed roles, meetings, stories, etc. Don't confuse tools (some useful, some not, all contextual) with the thing itself.

Code should contain all the comments it needs. Pro-tip: write code to need fewer comments.

My approach for helping struggling software teams/orgs never begins with "improve predictability." When asking for the P word, clients usually need something entirely different, like actual cross-functional teams (instead of component teams), better alignment with execs, etc.

When learning to program, syntax and grammar are important. Being present in your human experience and solving problems from there is everything.

I don’t usually like to brag, but I’m going to make an exception. I stepped away from my computer after not solving a bug because it’d been a long day. I actually walked away and left it sitting there for tomorrow. This is a top 3 personal accomplishment of the month.

Dear almost every one who tries to teach using games. Please make sure you have enough time for a good debrief that helps the people relate the game to their real-world context. Oh. Then double that time. And maybe add another hour after that.

Interesting thread in that some of the comments expose how ignorant some people are about an essential Agile practice: TDD. Most of the comments are reassuring, tho.

The assumption behind a daily stand-up or equivalent is that the team is a group of isolated individuals, working alone throughout the day. They need to coordinate. Doesn't sound much like a team to me. If you're actually working together, you're already in sync. No mtg needed.

So... Has anyone tried doing remote mob or pair programming using ? mentioned the idea, and it seems doable, for JS/TS at least. I'm interested in all thoughts, experiences, or experiments.
