Most of you could say a little less and those of you who use the terms “race card” or “gender wars” need not say anything at all.

"It was [S. Nazario's] Enrique's Journey, [O. Martínez's] The Beast—many Latino authors have written this story! Oprah didn't pick them." "I will not read the book. The gatekeepers of the industries do not reflect the people and the consumers that they serve." Chingona. 3/3

"We're just being outspoken about the inaccuracies of what this book represents. The last thing I'll say that it really pissed me off — I'm gonna say it, I'm gonna get crazy — is [that the author said] 'I wish a browner person than me wrote this book.' They did!" 2/3

How about turning down the heat on the instead? This is an empty gesture while your government forces a pipeline across our lands at gunpoint, much like your commitment to reconciliation.

Whiteness as a tool for violence works best when it’s invisible. You are never racialised, never expected to sit down and confront your whiteness, regularly navigating life as the assumed “default”. So when people finally acknowledge it, you think you’ve been racially abused.

Not all rapists are boogeymen. Not everyone who does something monstrous is a monster. If Kobe could begin to grapple with the fact he *did* sexually assault someone, why is it so difficult for fans to do the same?

It is wild to me—WILD—that Kobe issued an apology that stated regardless of whether he realized it or not (of course up for debate given her recounting) he realized she did not consent to sex, and yet people *still* deny he sexually assaulted her at all.

Before you commit to a dog name, go outside at 6:30 AM with no bra on and see how it feels begging that name to poo.

Still waiting for the collective to acknowledge that it is not that men don’t “understand” consent. They have simply been allowed to be sexually violent to women and children with no consequence because sexual violence is a rite of passage for them.

Until society stops positioning being CIS and heterosexual as the ‘default’ then unfortunately yes. Nobody should ever HAVE to come out, but the reality is that people do and they often come out multiple times in their lifetime, not just once

All this “I didn’t know I r*ped someone.” stuff. We have the studies that confirmed that when you use soft language men will readily admit to r*pe. They know. They just don’t like being *called* rapists.

It is upsetting to a lot of white people to be referred to as “white” because they’re used to just being referred to as “people” it is everybody else who gets the prefix that others their personhood. white privilege is moving through a racialised world in an unracialised body.

In other words, the legal system is forcing Kesha to pay her abuser and rapist for—oh right, telling another artist that he’s a rapist and abuse. This is horrific.

It's 2020 & the RCMP are arresting Indigenous people for living on their own land. They're using dogs, dragging people away in handcuffs, threatening the media. It's not ok and it shouldn't be ok to you. Good people, the time is now for solidarity. All out for Wet'suwet'en.

Is there anything more representative of this current crisis of colonialism and capitalism? The Minister of Indigenous-Crown Relations pushes lowering heat to reduce climate change as the RCMP are forefully clearing the Wet'suwet'en from their own land to force a pipeline through

Genuine question 4 supporters. I see you saying she’s a better candidate bc she listens & responds to feedback. How do you square that with her complete lack of dialogue with her Cherokee & Native critics? A community to whom she’s down real harm.
