I don't understand why you're cheerleading quarantine so hard. Don't you see how this leads to a restructuring of national economic life, with everything small and medium being gobbled up by the large? It's a new round of Enclosures.

It would stop the developing plan to scour the countryside clean of humans and replace them with a particularly obnoxious species of urbanites. If it had been done early even local business in the affected areas could have been saved. Ultimately they all pay the same lenders.

The scouring is going to be effected by material scarcity, not disease. I think you're overstating the danger of the virus and understating the societal transformation effected by quarantining, which is basically sweeping consolidation.
