J&J has ended manufacturing contracts. And the Merck-J&J partnership hasn't lived up to expectations. Merck has not produced commercial doses at its Durham plant, our reporting found. The two companies are now in arbitration. Here's our story:

J&J signed up multiple contract manufacturers, but supply was still limited. The USG (prior to Biden admin) urged J&J to partner with rival Merck to make doses. Merck received ~$100 million for project, which gvpt called a “historic" collaboration"

China’s National Medical Products Administration said it’s given emergency approval to the Molnupiravir antiviral from Merck China has already approved the Paxlovid antiviral made by Pfizer, which is reportedly in short supply.
