Accidental Presidents is out in paperback. It's filled w/stories of presidential power, murder conspiracies, brawls in Congress, and the stories of 8 men who became president when their predecessor died. Curious how history was altered by a heartbeat?

  3. With no breakout star from crowded field of Democratic candidates, someone should make a bold move. My op-ed today offers one possible suggestion, which is to announce a running mate now:

  4. Former Kenyan President Daniel Moi is dead. He was the first head of state I ever met and several years later I remember being in the streets of Nairobi while Kenyans eager for change chanted: "yote inawezekana bila Moi" That same day Mwai Kibaki ushered in a new era for Kenya

There is technical issue with Iowa results reporting. Hearing from multiple campaigns that the Iowa Democratic Party is sending a tech staffer to the shared boiler room in Des Moines, where the campaigns have staff headquartered, to brief them momentarily on what’s going on.

  10. Caucuses were determined to be a useful mechanism for choosing candidates at a time when majority of Americans not allowed to vote. They were replaced by party conventions in 1832 and only resurrected w/modern primaries. Should caucuses exist in 2020?

PM designate Mohammed Allawi sends out video addressed to Iraqis, says he realises how much people have suffered and that he knows he owes this position to the people out on the streets. Will be hard for him to succeed, but let us hope he does

A fascinating conversation with @jaredcohen81 about some of the unlikely men who have assumed a role of president. He is a polymath if I've ever met one! (I only learned the word polymath a few months ago)
