Why should citizens of EU member countries be afforded more rights in the UK than those from non EU member countries?
-
-
-
They shouldn’t, and aren’t.
-
So why are you asking if citizens of only EU countries should have been allowed a say in the referendum? It would be discriminating against all those from non EU countries.
-
Let me clarify - any person living, working and paying tax should have had a say. I presume you now agree with me?
-
The retired? You know those who worked and paid taxes all their lives. Those who served in the British armed services to keep this country safe. Are you really saying they shouldn't have had a say in the referendum?
-
When did I say that?
-
"living, working and paying tax". The retired don't work and quite often don't pay tax.
-
I never said they shouldn’t have a say - simply that ALL those living, working and paying tax should be able to. Nice try attempting to twist my words.

British elections/referendums should be for British citizens only. If people choose to live here and want a say they should become citizens.
-
Bit difficult when we’re trying to get rid of them.
-
Whose trying to get rid of anyone? People from across the globe have been able to live and work in the UK for a lot longer than the EU has existed. Some become citizens, some don't.
-
Xenophobics.
-
What xenophobics? Easy to sling in a random word but I don't see anyone in power in the UK suggesting "ethnic cleansing" of foreigners.
-
There are plenty of them.

Because, like many, they believe the UK to be a tolerant country, which, in large, it is. There are, however, a great deal of nasty xenophobes here too.

Think I’m in a minority. I don’t think they should. Only citizens holding British passports should have the right to vote.
-
Why?
-
It’s my opinion that British people should make decisions about what happens in Britain.
-
What about EU citizens who live in the UK having a say about something that will have a direct effect on their lives?
-
They also may leave the country one day and return home. Only permanent residents of the U.K. should make decisions about their country. I have lived abroad and paid taxes and not been able to vote. It’s just how it is.
-
How long have you lived abroad?
-
I didn’t ask you anything.
