    Like, I had no idea how many of my elders had to hide money from their husbands or completely contort to their desires. These are outspoken, smart women. And they aren’t happy. A lot of young girls saw this growing up and want no parts

    As someone who wishes to settle down eventually, I am seeing how bad marriage has been to a LOT of women in my life and I understand why it lacks appeal to other ladies. It’s very rarely a partnership—women just don’t typically get back what they put in.

    I just don’t understand this new mindset of (seeming to) preferring singleness over trying to be with someone long term.

    But I do believe that my generation of Black moms (and a lot of Gen X moms before us) operate with a good blend of “Do you got McDonalds money” energy and super affectionate, healthy nurturing skills.

    What if Alyssa Milano, instead of being so knee-jerk, had a broader analysis? Then she could use her fame, money & influence to promote Stacey Abrams efforts for & national voter suppression as a whole.
