A few things on those @PeteButtigieg remarks. One, a lot of us “coastal elites” are Midwesterners like him. We know all too well that Trump voters exist. And more of them live out here than he seems to realize. America doesn’t fit so snugly into a soundbite as he might like.

Two,
@PeteButtigieg attempts to exchange one stereotype for another. This, of course, is impossible; he manages to mischaracterize Trump voters, as well, letting them off the hook for putting in place the most dangerously ignorant chief executive this nation has maybe ever seen.Näytä tämä ketju -
I have more thoughts on this; perhaps there is a column in it. But
@PeteButtigieg would be well-served to revisit the column that@jbouie published right after the 2016 election, as well as the research about what motivated most Trump voters to choose him.http://slate.me/2eX453yNäytä tämä ketju

What that statement says to me is that Pete is in a bubble. Most of us have no trouble imagining Trump voters exist. We live next door to them, we work with them, we are related to them. He needs to get out more.

I live in CA. I have to drive less than two miles to find a house flying a Confederate flag. I am not in a rural area.

I was on the fence but interested in Pete. But if this is gonna be his schtick, he's lost me. He sounds more like Bernie Sanders with every passing day.

He's going to lose an awful lot of progressives and he's not going to gain one single solitary Trumper. This is pretty damn dumb for a supposedly smart guy.
