*raises hand* so I have a few questions. If April 3 was the date that you, as co-founder, became aware there was a chance #UniversalFanCon didn't have the range, how were you "blindsided" 48 hours ago? Wasn't the deficit an active, monitored issue for the past 3 weeks?

At "WOW I didn't realize we were THAT far in arrears..." I'd think all eyes would be on every dime & dollar moving forward. How were y'all caught SO unprepared to issue statements or contingencies when you've known cancellation was possible since 4/3? (at least?)
-
the "blindsided"... the scrambling... the "we're working on something"... the "we're trying guys..." None of that makes sense when you're telling us y'all had time to shoot a whole 'nother Kickstarter vid... but not draft a contingency plan?pic.twitter.com/ggM9w5poqu
-
Q2. How did you, as a founder, and the entire rest of the board overlook that your Kickstarter goals weren't actually paying for themselves? Like $250 for 2 passes and a hotel stay left how much actual donation money?

#FanCon#UniversalFancon ....processing.... ...reading .... Ok . Now that we got the name all known and all. How do we turn this into a well run oiled machine for 2019 ? How can those who lost out recover some of their cost ? How do we criticize but not disintegrate? Let's beginpic.twitter.com/YXcmY128gg

We still don’t know how the money was squandered and why the budget was so outsized with reality. Based on
@JamieBroadnax’s statement, it’s implied that someone may have been dishonest, at best, with the financials. Who was that person and how are they being held accountable? -
I agree. We should know a name and how this happened. This will help groups in the future when they try to create what Universal FanCon really wanted to do. I don't fault Jamie by any means, but this vague confessing has got to stop.
-
I agree. Although she might not have to hasten to name names before a proper audit is done . That also takes money , time and expertise. She seems to be putting herself in front of the train though
-
She’s definitely taking the brunt of the heat. But if she truly was in the dark as she claims, I would want to ensure blame rests with those who are TRULY responsible.
-
Question is then 1. Is it a naive but well meaning person or persons? Or 2. A series of unfortunate events ? 3. A fan-con scammer ? 4. Normal up and down of any enterprise ?
-
It’s definitely not normal. But I can believe naive, well-meaning people underestimated things or that a fraudster deceived and stole from them.
-
Y'all are too nice lmao. Their crew lost at least $100,000 in money from donations, vendors, and sales with nothing to show. Sorry but they're done!

Hey Jamie. I have a question! You said you were brought on as Director of Community Outreach but right up until this morning, you had “co-founder of
@UniversalFanCon” in your Twitter bio. So you aren’t the founder of the con? -

Bounce back sis. Take this as a learning moment in business and figure out how to go from there. Still a BGN fan. And a true fan will still want to be a part of this community.

I feel like we see this kind of thing happen SO OFTEN whenever good faith agreements like these are in place among friends. Because everyone expects their friends to be reliable and trustworthy and accountable, so you get manipulation & no oversight.

Sounds like you did your best to uphold the part you volunteered to do. The ball was dropped, but you were under it at the time. Sorry this has happened. I know many had high hopes judging from the tweets I’ve read since it started.

-
...and I can’t imagine the devastating financial effect this will have on many
