Woah, you were the art director for Battle Revolution? Out of curiosity, did you work on that tech demo for it that was shown in 2006? It was a double battle between Pikachu/Groudon and Deoxys/Wailord iirc.
Hey, yes I was, and yeah I directed that tech demo. The artists had some spare time and we wanted to make a cool pre-rendered movie as a concept piece to aim for...it wasn’t actually intended to be shown publicly!

Very Interesting! I always loved how that looked even though the Wii could quite handle it. As a 3d artist myself, I even found the final product's look impressive, with clever handling of the shading to modernize some of the "older" models in the game. Kudos.

Thank you! Yeah I’m happy with how the shaders turned out for that game...the rim lighting helped the older models to look smoother and higher quality. Well observed!
