  1. Re: the conspiracy theories, how would it have been in Buttigieg’s interests to screw up the count, given that even a 2nd-place finish would gotten big headlines and helped build buzz?

  2. The really scary thing is that it was the marshal of the Supreme Court who told the Iowa Democratic Party about Shadow.

  3. Given that only 40% of Democrats in the most recent Kaiser Foundation survey prefer M4A to a more incremental approach, what this really tells you is that Iowa caucus-goers are pretty unrepresentative of the party as a whole.

  4. Totally agree. Even if Iowa were a really diverse state, no state with a caucus should go first (and honestly, no state should have caucuses instead of traditional voting to begin with).

  5. Daniel Tiger's dad does a pretty great job of parenting, housekeeping, cooking, etc. Of course, he's a cartoon tiger, but even so.

  6. This is what’s silly about writing any candidate’s obituary - or trumpeting any candidate as way ahead - based on last night’s results. Whoever won will have gotten less than 30% of 175,000 potential voters (nearly all of them white voters as well).

  7. An especially odd theory given that even if he finished 2nd, would have been much better for Buttigieg if there were big headlines this morning reporting the results.

  8. "The leading Democratic candidates are leading."

  9. "Early entrance polls show Biden, Buttigieg, Sanders, and Warren leading with Iowa caucusgoers" is not exactly an informative headline.

  10. Weird game. Nice comeback by KC, but feels like we didn’t really see Mahomes at anything close to his best.

  11. I don’t really get why the DB had to play it that way. He had time to turn around and see the throw.

  13. That was a ridiculous call to miss.

  14. Mahomes didn’t have his body aligned with the target on that interception and didn’t step into that throw. He gets away with sketchy footwork all the time because he has such an amazing arm, but it totally burned him there.

  15. Very strange for the 49ers to give the Chiefs 3rd-and-2 instead of 2nd-and-7.

  16. That Bernie number - 47% of his supporters might not support the Democratic nominee against Trump - is, shall we say, remarkable.

  17. "We think you're a lickspittle running dog of neoliberal imperialists. But please come join us!" is a questionable rhetorical strategy.

  18. Reading the comments to this makes you wonder if Bernie's supporters really understand that he cannot win the general election without the votes of people who currently support other Democratic candidates.

  20. Kind of weird not to mention that this rally featured a free concert by Vampire Weekend.
