Registered reports, where researchers announce their hypotheses before the data are in, and journals commit to publication whatever the results, yield less than half as many positive results as standard Psychology literature.

Super pumped with these author proofs for Stressed, Depressed. One key (counterintuitive) finding: when buffering a social rank model of depression, compassion - as assessed via a personality measure - had the same effect as neuroticism!

Interesting paper. Another Q I always have is if we measure inequality at the national level, but a nation is highly segregated by wealth such that the rich and poor don’t interact, then do the measures capture the psychological experience? I apologize for phrasing this Q poorly

I’m reading Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. My goodness it is an incredibly moving read. To be rejected by one’s creator is devastating. But “The Creature” is amazing. This section got me teary. “Let your compassion be moved, and do not disdain me.” I just want to give him a hug.

    Surprise! Meta-analysis of psychotherapy for borderline personality (K=33; N=2,256) finds psychodynamic therapy (g = 0.41; 95% CI, 0.12-0.69) slightly superior to Dialectical behavior therapy (g = 0.34; 95% CI, 0.15-0.53).
