This prayer was absolutely lovely. As the mother of a gay son, it makes my soul sing. And then I read some of the hateful responses by some of the so-called Christians responding and I realize they’ll never, ever understand this. Back to despair.

Don't pay attention to them. First, some are hateful and ignorant, so why should you care? Second, some are anonymous and so why should you care? Third, and most of all, God loves your gay son, so do you, and so do many good Christians, so why should you care? Focus on the love.

I attended Catholic High School. I left the church w/in 2 yrs of graduation. Couldn’t stand the hypocrisy btwn what I was taught and how the Church acted. It is heartening to see a priest openly express the absolute love & tolerance of Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!
