Dear friends: I regret wading into the #Covingtoncontroversy this weekend. For it seems that we may never know what was going on inside the hearts of the students. So I would like to apologize to them for my judgment of them. 1/

Finally, I don’t agree with the “No one should weigh in until all the facts are in” argument. Because all the facts will never be in. At some point, people are justified in offering reasonable opinions. My mistake was offering a condemnation, and for that I again apologize. 6/

One question I think you should raise: Why - in a state where about 15% of the state's population is people of color - does this school of about 500 students have only but a handful of students of color, and *zero* teachers of color?

Respectfully, surprised a good priest/writer equivocating on right behavior. There are not two sides to every argument/racist boorish and disrespectful behavior is always wrong and no one can goad a group into being racist. Compassion is compassion, love is love & hate is hate.

Father had you watched the 2 hours of video and read the testimonies it would be obvious the chaperones were present, and That the students acted respectfully as well as peacefully. Please don’t be afraid of the truth.

Calling out what kids wear to #ProLife March completely discounts any apology attempted. Your struggle w/ humility is on full display. You see that right? Just admit ur wrong, period. PS. US kids can & should support their president anytime they choose. I’ll pray for you.

Father you are wrong. The facts are quite clear, it’s called law. Charges could be filed against two groups under DC Title 22 subtitle 1 Chp13 bias enhancement would be added. These kids would be listed as victims. The church wavering could be why it’s declining

You are wrong !!! You should never, especially in your position, criticize others, especially students who apparently did mostly nothing wrong. These kids were vilified by the Fake News and you and others have committed a horrible dis-service to those representing righteousness.
