The article shows the kind of hate-mongering, personal vilification and online campaigns directed against LGBT people. As Bishop McElroy said, “There is nothing Christian or Catholic about the hateful and vile people whose persecution of Aaron Bianco drove him from his ministry.”

Every day I it becomes more difficult for me to remain Catholic.

The truth of the faith has nothing to do with immoral actions of individuals, if anything it supports the core claim of our faith. That we are weak in the face of sin but hopeful through Christ by his sacrifice. Sin (yes, even homosexuality) must be condemned, never the sinner.

Interesting point - the church had about “40 regular attendees at weekend mass“ when his ministry started ..... I have seen bigger crowds at a bus stop. If the church gets any more “exclusive” we will cease to exist - we need to fight for a welcoming place for lgtbq!

Which is all very nice of course. There's a bible verse that can be cherry picked for every occasion. Speaking out and denouncing outrageous actions is perfectly appropriate.

I think there is a priest in the
#SocietyOfJesus who says if there are those who dont "receive" a teaching, such as the one that we must love one another, then for them, the teaching isnt "authoritative." (I dont agree with the Jesuit in question)
