Scot Goes Pop / Panelbase poll: By decisive margins, the Scottish public say election result *does* give the SNP a mandate to hold an independence referendum, and that Brexit *is* a big enough change of circumstances to justify another indyref:

Mr Carlaw knows that Indyref2 isn't one of the things that really matter. That's why he's going to talk about Indyref2 to the exclusion of everything else, because how else are we going to get back to the things that really matter? LIKE STOPPING INDYREF2.

Staying up last night for the results of the Iowa Caucuses was one of the stupider decisions of my life. It reminded me of the feeling of waiting for Theresa May to say something substantive in a speech.

“All that energy spent, no distance covered: it’s like eating cottage cheese or learning Welsh.” Imagine the oh-so-liberal ⁦⁩ saying that about any other minority language. But we Welsh speakers know all about the form. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The SNP ought to be ready to produce rebuttal material, instantly, that supporters can then use to negate Facebook ads. That ought to be entirely do-able.

I'm sure The Times will be eager to publish my forthcoming article on why there should be a binding Europe-wide vote on cancelling Brexit. The UK voted to stay in Europe in 1975, so it would have to abide by the continent-wide result. That's "democracy".

The UK has a debt of £1.9 trillion & is currently running a deficit this year. It is now to borrow another £5 million to attack Scottish self-determination with the Scots being billed £500,000 for the pleasure, which will be added to the imaginary Scottish deficit. Swoon.

Astounding how many English people just assume that they subsidise the oil and gas rich country to their north.

"The UK government is expected to spend almost £1 for every man, woman and child in Scotland in a year-long effort to win over those in favour of independence." Almost £1? Gosh. I could buy two-thirds of a sandwich for that.

With all due respect, referendums are only won before they are called in dictatorships. In a country like Scotland, you have to call the vote and then win the campaign.

"Absolutely gutted depressed. Hate it." What does it mean for the UK to leave the EU after 47 years of membership? We speak to Remainers and Brexiters.
