Life is short. And if life is short, then moving quickly matters. Launch the product. Write the book. Ask the question. Take the chance. Be thoughtful, but get moving.

In the long-run, adaptation is more useful than optimization. At some point, the environment you optimized for will shift. The rules of the game will change. The flexible prevail.

Charity can be a lifestyle, not merely an occasional gift. Read charitably. Give the author your most rational interpretation. Listen charitably. Donate your undivided attention. Work charitably. Be generous with your expertise. In this way, you make charity a daily habit.

I’ve spent the last month touring cities in Europe. There is something calming about the cafes, the architecture, the cozy streets. During a particularly nice walk, my friend summarized the difference: “European cities are built for people. American cities are built for cars.”

We often describe mental toughness as something you use to get to the finish line: -finish what you start -just keep going -never give up But grit may be more powerful as something you use to get to the starting line: -never miss a workout -always show up -do it everyday

I'm reading Atomic Habits by and I'm really taking my time to grasp it in. Admittedly, his book wasn't at the top of my list cos I thought, "Meh, what's the big deal about habits? Do I really need to read a whole book about it?" Boy was I wrong.

One way to beat your bad habits is to upgrade your addictions. Go from “addictive but unrewarding” -social media scrolling -mindless YouTube To “addictive and rewarding” -smart, curated Twitter feed -educational lectures on YouTube Turn tech’s addictive nature to your favor.

Most people need consistency more than they need intensity. Intensity: -run a marathon -write a book in 30 days -silent meditation retreat Consistency: -don't miss a workout for 2 years -write every week -daily silence Intensity makes a good story. Consistency makes progress.
