My wife and I never baby talk to our kids. We use full sentences and a wide vocabulary including complex words. My son is 3 and can carry a full conversation. Adults at family gatherings are shocked at his social aptitude. My daughter isn’t even 2 and she uses 4-syllable words.

Guys, guys! Great news! I checked with my wife! She said you're all doing fine! Really though - she says the key is to engage with them at their level. It's good to infantalize the baby. Goo goo gaa gaa mama baba dada helps them learn to make those sounds.

But you wouldn't do that with a toddler, you'd use bigger words. You pace them. Maybe you don't try to discuss particle physics or geopolitics, but for the love of God talk to your kids.

Is there an actual science to support this please?
-
The actually researched actual science says babytalk is best (caveat I've listened to the podcast not read the research)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hze-2OybHRA …

Yes, my kids are adults now, but we used baby talk & full sentences when they were little. Both are important for development.

What is your definition of baby talk? If you're talking about telegraphic speech (Apple? Eat?), there's inconsistent evidence that this will impede. Using wide up & down, lilting intonation? That can capture attention & increase conversation-like turns, which are VERY important.
