The dividing lines of politics nowadays are between safety spirit vs adventurous spirit. knowledge is adventurous, you don't know what to expect, it is open to change. Certainty brings you safety, but closes your mind.

Philosophically knowledge is fragile. Once you doubt, you can no longer say you know. Faith, however, by definition requires one to have doubt but have enough belief to act. Faith is required for error correction & therefore provides a better ground for science, think Thomas Kuhn

Either certainty or acquiesced delusions - as long as they do not trouble us like a change in perspective might do.

Knowledge is never certain. Science is the process of learning to be less wrong.

Desire, certainty and blame is the Harrier Trinity from the book, The Boomer Bible. Engage in your desires because they are the only things that are real, be certain of them, and when things go south, find somebody to blame. Do this without thinking at all.
