Doesn't he specifically name two women who got positions with (he claims) less credentials than he has?

To my knowledge, no. In his talk, he compared the citation number of Gina Rippon and Simon Baron Cohen, and quoted a scientist who complained about sexism in science allegedly proved by the larger number of men speakers in conferences (Strumia said it's not a good evidence)

That's the only 2 cases of direct mentions of women I've found when I looked into the claims made by several articles on this affair. In the audio, the personal attacks are nowhere to be found.

Hmm. Reports that he claimed to have been bypassed for a less qualified woman, and named both her and the woman who made the choice, have appeared in a lot of sources.

I haven't read the article yet, so I apologize if you already answered this question in it, but is there any way the recording could be made public. A distortion of that nature seems like a pretty big deal and it would be nice to have indisputable proof.

Thanks, I'll listen to it, but if what you say is true it's really outrageous. Possibly even worse than in @JamesADamore's case, who might also want to listen to this recording.

The "attack" was him quickly giving an example of possible gender discrimination against him, which was taken humorously by the audience (laughter, at 20:30 in the audio). It was a post hoc justification for CERN's actions just like my "code of conduct violations" for Google.pic.twitter.com/lHYs7QdyZs

The laughter was after one of the people present asked Strumia why he didn't have a university professorship with such impressive citations and he basically said "let's not discuss that."

And sorry, I don't think it matters that it was done "quickly." He put up a slide suggesting that one high-level female physicist had unfairly gotten her position b/c of gender & another was hiring only "gender experts" for a theoretical physics post. That's an attack, for sure.

Was this slide actually in the presentation? Yikes. I'm with Cathy on this one. He chose to name specific people when a generic example would have sufficed (assuming I'm interpreting the context correctly). At best, this was extremely unprofessional behavior.

Yup. It was in the presentation, and was briefly discussed in the talk (though the audio does not include names).
