For me, I didn't intuitively understand the social signals until I laid them out explicitly. Thus, I only saw costs and no benefits. Not intuitively understanding social signals may be the common link.

There's nothing wrong with a well fitting suit. Much like turtlenecks and jeans they can be simultaneously conformist and yet leave a lot of room for innovation.

I wear eveninggown skirts as daywear -- to the drugstore, on the subway, etc.. A costly signal of non-conformity. Also, why not look as fabulous as possible?pic.twitter.com/cB0JMrOPja

Dressing nicely conveys dignity and respect to others. It says, "you are worth dressing up for." There's more to life than seeking your own comfort. One reason I'm usually "overdressed."

I've met a lot of well dressed assholes in my days. Sure their clothing afforded me some respect but their manner didn't. I'd rather deal with a person in a jeans and a hoodie that knows how to treat people. Than the person in a $1,500.00 wardrobe who fails at humility.

Maybe all that, but first impressions are lasting impressions, dressing is body language, it says more than the words that come out of your mouth.

In all seriousness, your rebeliousness and disrespect of authority are my favourite aspects of your character. I'll respect society when it shows proper respect to intellect such as yours.
