Yes, difficulties getting employed after prison is a serious issue too and affects recidivism. Lacking voting rights means that they lose a voice in government and means that targeting groups via things like the war on drugs can effectively silence their influence on elections.

What about the victims of these crimes? As a victim of violent crime in SF, my attacker didn’t even make it to court. It’s been three years and nothing, zero, from the police or prosecutors. Until you’re the victim, you won’t get it.
