Garfield is a cat and doesn't have a job. The only ostensible difference between Monday and any other day is that Jon suddenly isn't around after having been home all weekend. Garfield doesn't hate Mondays, he loves Jon and is too proud to say it.

I support this hill! all he wants is Jon’s undivided attention especially after Lyman’s untimely departure

I will also suspend disbelief so as to believe 'suspend belief' is a phrase.

When I first got Garfield I went to the office to do my cartooning. Now I work from home. But I work in the detached garage because Garfield can't claw at the door while I am working. Is that enough information for you nosey people?

I'm right behind you. We all want to believe our cats feel the same way.pic.twitter.com/wS8TFOhEID

But why would a cartoonist only work weekdays? I mean, Sunday strips are much harder than dailies. (Of course, comic strips are drawn weeks to months in advance… still!)

Supporting this is the fact that, since that first strip, Jon's work has *never* (that I've seen at least) factored into the strip, so there really *must* be some solid division between home live and work life for Jon to explain that.
-
That also suggests that, however shiftless Jon may seem in the strip, that he must actually have some pretty hardcore work discipline, and that Garfield, whatever problems he causes, respects that enough not to interfere with it.

He may go to a studio to do his work too

Except that as a cartoonist, his work schedule isn't necessarily 9-5 M-F
