Lie (Merriam Webster) 2 : to create a false or misleading impression It’s lying. If I was put in that position, I’d lie too. Most marginalized groups don’t have the option of lying for the sake of survival. Hiding who you are is a choice. Not necessity.

It’s not even a matter of survival. I keep saying trans people have the right to a stealth life. It’s not a matter of being ashamed either. It’s leaving anything behind that was associated with their old self. They have the right to disclose it to only who it matters to.

True in many ways. Some only wish to tell their lover and close friends/family. Others, may determine making an open transition is too risky and others still may live their private life as the gender they id with while presenting as their birth sex in their work/public life. 1.

We all have to make choices based on our circumstances, it's unfair to automatically accuse someone of attention seeking or lying when they may just be making the choices they feel best fit their currant circumstances. I wish more of us would step back & consider those factors. 2
