Iowa county Democratic party chairman to me on the future of the caucuses: "There were 49 other states saying why does Iowa get to do this?... And now we just poured a gallon on kerosene on what was a shouldering ember.”

Vote-reporting mess leaves Iowa with no victor on caucus night. An embarrassing night for the Iowa Democratic Party that basically left us with no answers to the important questions about the race.

"... and ensure that we have confidence and accuracy in the numbers we report. This is simply a reporting issue, the app did not go down and this is not a hack or an intrusion. The underlying data and paper trail is sound and will simply take time to further report the results."

  17. Final from our one li’l ol precinct Des Moines 47 WARREN 131 ... 35.99% Sanders 113 ... 31.04% Buttigieg 107 ... 29.4%

  18. Scenes from Des Moines 47 where only Sanders Warren and Buttigieg were viable after first vote: Woman who had hoped to make Klobuchar viable now backing Warren; Biden leader ruefully joins Buttigieg; Sanders person so passionate she alienates Yang person who joins Buttigieg

  19. Our one li’l precinct here Des Moines 47 (out of almost 1700 total) on the FIRST VOTE (viability threshold 56): Sanders 107 Warren 104 Buttigieg 71 Klobuchar 26 Yang 24 Biden 22 Steyer 3 Booker 3 Uncommitted 3 Bennet 1 Gabbard 1 Patrick 1 Bloomberg 0

  20. Here at Des Moines 47, there are three groups that claim they reached the viability threshold: WARREN, SANDERS, and BUTTIGIEG. Now the Klobuchar, Yang, and Biden groups decided what to do — Biden folks are hoping others join them to boost them to viability

  21. Here at Des Moines 47, there are 368 caucus attendees so the viability threshold is 56. Preference groups now huddling to see if they made it.
