Let’s talk about it
First, Venezuelan citizens have been fleeing the country for years On my first trip to Latin America in 2014, I meet dozens of Venezuelans who had recently left the country to find work in Panama This was when Venezuela wasn’t “that bad”
Now, there’s nearly 5 million Venezuelans who have fled A country of 32 million people If people fled the USA in similar fashion… That would be 50+ million people saying: This place fucking sucks, I have to uproot my life, leave my family, and find somewhere else to live
These displaced Venezuelans are everywhere in Latin America now And living through hell…
Here’s a story: I was seeing this 18-year-old Venezuelan girl my last trip to Colombia Nice chick, pretty innocent Didn’t drink, just worked her job, and went to the gym
One day, she wrote me and said her boss fired her She was making like $60 bucks a week illegally working in a bakery full-time I asked why she was fired...
Apparently, her boss has just found out she turned 18 the month before Once he found out she was 18, he called her into his office and said he’d have to let her go… Unless she was willing to do other “cosas” with him at the bakery When his wife wasn’t around
She said she was not going to sleep with him...EVER He fired her on the spot
She had enough money for a week’s living expenses and a bus ticket home She had a week to find a new job, a near impossible task in 2019 for Venezuelans With thousands upon thousands of Venezuelans in Colombia, the cheap labor market was cornered and work is hard to find
She was back living in Venezuela the next week, unemployed and living on table scraps with her mother
Her What’s App was gone two weeks later I assumed she had to sell her cheap smartphone to buy some food for her mom and her
This situation is the new “normal” for many Venezuelans Fighting for scraps just to have enough money for food, only to be continually taken advantage of
Another story… In Bogota, Colombia there are parts of the city where 4-8 Venezuelan girls live in the cheapest hotel they can find together In the evenings, they bring some spare mattresses into an abandoned parking garage in the “red light district”
They have sex with paying customers for around $8 USD a pop On a dirty mattress lying on the parking garage floor

Venezuelans have been fucked for years by their government If you think coronavirus is bad, and it fucking is... Life in Venezuela has been worse for the better part of a decade
We have toilet paper shortages That’s been life for years now in Venezuela Toilet paper, milk, coffee, antibiotics, lack of hospital beds, etc.
