@awesomeintheory Faster than running a handful (~20?) of direct CPUID instructions? Any idea how that can be?

@JakeGoulding Yes, the Linux kernel caches it and it's a relatively expensive instruction. Same as it does for a couple of other things. -
@awesomeintheory TIL! I saw it serializes instructions, which I’m sure causes stalls. I wouldn’t have thought it would be too bad though. - 1 more reply
