When it gets into the top 100 all time most downloaded crates. It's a script that chooses this list, I don't think there's an additional whitelist unfortunately

Heh, we did some research before the initial release, and there *is* a whitelist. Some crates we expected to be in the top 100 in fact weren't, and were only being included because they were deps of crates on the whitelist (:

Another option we considered was running our own play instance, but that required more resources than we had available before launch. Didn't pick it up since.

It was mostly a matter of time; I wouldn't want to admin it probably, but if we could get an instance up, both DNS and paying for the hosting shouldn't be a problem! cc/

I mean it’s not the most sincere aproach but I suspect if someone would to download async-std 100.000.000 times …. It would sure make the top 100. Not that I’d suggest anyone doing that.
