Whooo-whee. Once upon a time it was guys like
@Kirbopher,@Eddsworld,@Zeurel,@HappyHarryToons,@thetomska's commissioned work... back when they could dedicate a lot of time to large-scale, quality, *original* stories and characters. To this day they're still some of the greats.2 replies 1 retweet 7 likes -

But nowadays YouTube isn't really fit to support animators anymore. The only channels you'll find that get any sort of traction are either ones made by big teams/corporations (even then, companies like
@RoosterTeeth are forced to to get rid of their animation on YouTube...2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

...animations that can benefit from the "quantity over quality" algorithm. Anytime I see some legitimately good animation from people like @kayanimate,
@mattyburrito,@RageNineteen, they get swamped and ignored because they can't upload often enough to do what they do more often.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

All of these channels are still ones I like and support, but none of them are able to thrive through animation the way they once could.

Good animation takes time; time that they dont have in this new age. It kills the kind of animation that used to thrive online cause it's impossible to upload daily/weekly/monthly unless you already have a team to hire in the first place. Between a rock and a hard place, really.

My favorite animators are the ones that have fallen in the wave of new algorithm standards, the ones that are still trying, and the very, VERY few ones that have surpassed all odds and have managed to find a living telling the stories they want to tell...

...without YouTube's help, mind you. So to call them YouTube animators is kind of cheating in that respect.

I'm not making this wave of tweets just because I'm someone who strives for standards that YouTube no longer supports, but also because as a viewer I want to be able to support/appreciate the artists who used to be able to do the same. It used to be so much better than it is.

@TeamYouTube I'm not sure how aware you are about this change that inadvertently came from your policy revisions but if you're half the supporters of creativity/innovation that you market yourselves as... please look into ways to help out the little guys. They need it most.
