BREAKING NEWS: Kevin McCarthy just kicked me off the House Intelligence Committee. And here’s why: I fought him and Donald Trump when they tried to tear down our democracy. If he thinks this will stop me, he will soon find out differently.

Eye-opening story from - sources tell them Sunak was informed about the probe into Zahawi's tax affairs, when he was chancellor back in June. And that a penalty may be levied. Downing Street categorically deny the story.

Important to remember that Brexit & Boris Johnson didn't just inflict epic & utterly unnecessary damage on the country, they necessitated the governing party getting rid of anyone prepared to act with integrity & honesty

On the Zahawi tax affair, former chancellor, Lord Philip Hammond tells @IanKingSky “I would not want to accept the office of chancellor if I was at that time involved in a live negotiation of a tax case with HMRC”

New: HMRC Chief Jim Harra tells MPs "there are no penalties for innocent errors in your tax affairs". Harra explains that nobody would be penalised if they take "reasonable care" but make mistakes. Nadhim Zahawi doesn't deny paying a penalty in his multi-million £ settlement.

The only thing worse than Tory corruption twitter.com/Jakdaw09/statu is it total unwillingness to stem it even when everyone can see it. How Zahawi remains Chairman of Tories is only fathomable to Tories (a dwindling band) not to anyone else!

Tory corruption comes at you so thick and fast - Johnson/Sharp/BBC; Zadawi/HMRC; Sunak/FPN (seat belt). So fast, it must be Tory strategy to max corruption so as to confuse the voters. Remember PPE/Test&Trace/Hancock/Owen Paterson & lobbying/ Partygate...? theguardian.com/politics/2021/

290 Conservative MPs have voted against a Liberal Democrat amendment which would have forced the Government to release their review of the Golden Visa scheme. We know Putin’s cronies used and abused this scheme - so why won’t the Government give us the full picture?

Today + other MPs are seeking to get anti-SLAPP amendments into the Economic Crime Bill 2 #ECB2. We have often seen SLAPPs deployed to used to frustrate or suppress investigations into financial crime & corruption. 14/

2/. And on Wednesday we COULD change the law - if ministers accept our amendment to ban Strategic Legal Actions Against Public Participants - and stop our courts being used to silence truth tellers like @bellingcat

I also raised the issue in the 's session on 'Lawfare and free speech' yesterday afternoon. There are many questions still to be answered, crucially whether sanctioned individuals could still be granted licenses in this way? twitter.com/FPCThinkTank/s 11/

Yesterday at @UKHouseofLords Communication and Digital Committee, FPC's Director @skcoughtrie highlighted the case brought against @EliotHiggin by Putin ally Prigozhin. Even as a sanctioned individual, Prigozhin was able to use the UK courts to try and silence a UK journalist

In my 3yrs working on #SLAPPs in #UK, I've not seen a more egregious case than the one brought against by Prigozhin, then already sanctioned in connection to mercenary activity. It seemed a mystery how he even brought the case 1/

Tulip Sadiq asks the prime minister about the welfare of 200 unaccompanied migrant children who’ve gone missing. Tory MP Jonathan Gullis heckles ‘well they shouldn’t have come here illegally’. Just when you think you’ve heard it all, the Tory Party find a new low #PMQs

Stark editorial - how the UK is collapsing in on itself (NHS, monarchy, police, corruption in Parliament...) - much the fault of the 4th Estate that spreads johnsonian lies as if in competition with George Santos for Most Mendacious Oscar

Simply incredible. In the Urgent Question in minister just admitted sanction enforcement basically out of ministerial control. You couldn’t make it up
Quote Tweet
Unbelievable. The Tories gave sanction waivers to warlords - a green light to Wagner Group boss Prigozhin to fly lawyers to Russia to polish his effort to silence @bellingcat. Today in @HouseofCommons I thanked @jimfitznews & @openDemocracy for the story - & demanded answers

Reminder that Rishi Sunak didn’t resign over any of the sleaze scandals that hit Boris Johnson In his own words he quit because he felt their approaches to the economy were "fundamentally too different"

Yes it's the 'cosiness in the upper echelons of public appointments' which is so pernicious. They all know each other, often went to school and/or university together, socialise together, and that's even before you get to the Tory links

A trick the BBC uses to distort: Corruption gets called "sleaze" Far-right thugs get called "right wing activist" Wealthy sex offenders get called "disgraced" And chums of Rishi Sunak and Boris Johnson get called "chairman of the BBC" #Newsnight willblack-53220.medium.com/this-stench-of

Several people, including - shockingly - some BBC presenters, are referring to the BBC as a state broadcaster. It isn't. It's a PUBLIC broadcaster and the difference is real and significant. (Even if some want to pretend it isn't)

No better way to spread the word about human rights abuse than through Hollywood. I’m so happy that Alexei Navalny’s story has been nominated for an Academy Award. Hopefully this will put more pressure on the Russian government to release him.
