Crime Bill People: it's not about race New Afrikans: didn't you listen to the floor debate before it was passed? Do you see the effect it had on our communities? People: lets discuss mass incarceration instead of race Us: what the fuck is mass incarceration?

Well, I think the serious folks say other bills were more central to the problem that the 94 crime bill (not that it wasn't about race or that race isn't central to Mass Incarceration). My answer is that the 94 crime bill still was awful for a number of other reasons either way

I don't know if you follow @JohnFPfaff but he has a pretty sophisticated response to this argument, I don't 100% agree with him, but I 85% agree with him. But that agreement doesn't mean much, b/c the 94 crime bill was bad for a lot of other reasons either way

It's followed. The problem is that when it comes to certain political angles in relation to New Afrikan communities and what we see in the prisons, these arguments are too eurocentric. They preserve by ignoring crucial points that stand out to us

but, like I said, I can agree with his point and still loathe the 94 crime bill, they aren't mutually exclusive...but there is a value in rigorous analysis as well
