The word seems to be less politically volatile than the word White Supremacist. I see a comment where someone says white supremacists are not as extreme??? White supremacy has always meant terrorism (violence) anytime there is a perceived threat to it dominance

Agreed. Lots of people feel that way, which in my opinion is a failure of theorists. Younger people are growing up in an era where to be a liberal democrat means to be a white supremacist too. And I get that (since they reinforce the same hierarchy), but it's changed meaning then

Growing up, white supremacists were understood as neo-nazis, terrorists, KKK. People who were directly involved in terror or hate crimes. Now both terms can be largely based on what people think & what sort of society they uphold or want, disconnected from (but supporting) terror
