Prisoners issues are being watered down by both political parties. Ask the Democrats will they scale back old laws passed under Bill Clinton administration? Or will they attempt to offer rehabilitation and early release to so called violent offenders? Same politics

In fairness, and I don't entirely disagree with you, what is happening right now is about five politicians (Cotton, Cruz, Rubio, Cornyn, John Kennedy) are holding everyone else hostage, they are the ones freaking out about "violence" in early release.
I was speaking regarding the overall politics. Not any pending legislation. 1st step is only a federal prisoners act. And it will not release early but certain offenders after all the debates

I still care about "certain" "Federal" prisoners...and I do think it puts cracks in the logic of mandatory minimums and tough on crime...cracks we can continue to widen after it passes. But bigger and much more is certainly needed.,
