"Prison slavery" like "cotton picking slavery" is rooted in the entire u.s economy. Then you have what's just "a prison" with bodies in it. Any clue how many citizens make a living off this? Or how much surplus labor citizens don't have to compete with?

Celebrities for the most part are capitalist. Prisons are a vital part of the u.s economic functioning. With that comes an ideological foundation that is reinforced which says "we need prisons". Don't expect Jay Z or any other celebrity to come out as abolitionists anytime soon
