I was on the coordinating committee for Amendment A. I don't think the new possibilities for legal challenges are very promising, if I'd even describe them as possibilities. My understanding from lawyers is that under case law, prison labor already isn't considered slavery.

It's considered slavery by law, but there is no case law that usurps the 13th. Slavery is legalized by the US Constitution. Unless the person has not been convicted. That's why it's not a promising win in the court system.
