A giant gathering at Grand Central right now demanding free transit in NYC, and cops out of our subways. Police just arrested one man for unknown reasons and the crowd surged forward, chanting: “THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!”

Biden: “There's not a single solitary scientist that thinks [Bernie's climate plan] can work." 57 scientists: "The Green New Deal [Sanders] is proposing is not only possible, but it must be done if we want to save the planet for ourselves, our children, grandchildren..."⬇️

The entire scam of “be your own boss” is just a cover for “cover your own expenses, shoulder your own risk, suffer built-up liabilities”. It’s a tag line that preys on people’s aspirations for a better life while giving them a worse one. It’s cruel, abusive, and exploitive.

This math doesn’t even include the time spent between taking gigs. Any wait time is paid for by the gig worker. Why would anyone do this?? Because income today puts food on the table and a roof over your head. Expenses like depreciation, maintenance, tires hit later.

I think part of it was that the education system, which I hardcore bought into and optimized for, doesn't really teach you this? They actually incentivize it: you're only evaluated on your final product, not your process or whether your time was well-spent

Hey this shit is Bad for Depression. The majority of my clients I see who are depressed very much recognize the people who love them, the things they have, etc, and think that, on top of being depressed, they are ungrateful/self-absorbed for not being Appropriately Grateful

Capitalism is an inherently coercive system when you have to work for food, shelter, education, and medicine. When the alternative to accepting shitty working conditions is to go hungry or become homeless, yeah, you take the shitty conditions.

They voluntarily choose to sell their labor under atrocious conditions because the penalty for not doing so is fucking destitution. No one signs up to drive your ass around for sport or aspiration, or fetch your foods because they love the smell of curry.

Have you ever thought about how you can suddenly afford having an army of servants driving you around, getting your food, and running your errands? The prime innovation in the gig economy is to bring back the oldest trick in the book: exploitation.
