Sat there with Grandad talking about playing in World Cups and he comes out with “you’ve just got to take it in your stride”.... Imagine captaining your country at a World Cup . 🔥🦁🦁🦁

Seen/heard so much guff about how Portugal-Uruguay gonna be a bloodbath/battle/turgid card fest, etc. Nothing about how countries of 10 million/3 million consistently compete with, often beat countries steeped in football tradition with 6/20 times (or more) higher population.

Listen. When I need advice about strikers I ask Ian Wright. CB? Tony ADAMS. When I need advice about GK. I ask David Seaman. End of. 😁👍🏻

Advocated this for a long time. Great to see clear regs re equal funding AND equal opportunity in schools. Yes girls you can play football and must have the same opps and funding 💪

A lot of people will turn into experts on Colombian football over the next few days. But if you want to know more about England's opponents, and get proper insight, follow . He's an English journalist who has spent the last 7yrs living in Colombia and knows his stuff.

  7. *Potential* benefits of side of draw. Reminds me of Euro 2009: women 3rd in group and strolled to final (avoided big guns). And World Cup 2015, clearly keen to finish 2nd in group (avoided big guns). So, so close to final. Here *tried* to win but it may work out ok.

England fans think positive ? You don’t honestly think that could ever happen do you ? Plays best players they get injured - Moan. Plays squad players lose - Moan. Go out to Brazil - Should of played weakened team vs Belgium - Moan Go out to Colombia - we were cocky - Moan

  9. Sure, but the manager can't please everybody. He and his staff are best placed to make these decisions. He'll be judged on how England finish the World Cup, not specifically on a dead rubber third group game.

  10. Had Southgate played first team and won/drawn, may feel better BUT players tired, could've lost key men (KANE) to injury/suspension, squad players lacking sharpness, day less to rest and analyse/prepare for Japan AND further to travel/hotter conditions. Think positive.

The morning’s back pages here. Most highlighting the fortunate side of the defeat, the Mail not happy with team selection. Great photo in the of .

The French B-team were even less impressive but they’ll still be believing they can win the tournament. Restore the last starting lineup (poss Rose for Young?), we’re in knockout football and BOOM. Belgium forgotten. It’s all about Colombia now. With an extra day to prepare.

It’s not that Gareth didn’t want to win, but what if Kane had rolled his ankle chasing a game of little consequence? If England are to do something special in this World Cup, they’ll need him.

I’m not sharing the negative vibe about tonight. Yes it was flat, but it’s all about the bigger picture. No major injuries/suspensions, squad players maintained their fitness, extra day rest, better/cooler location. Yes a tough opponent but it’s the . Roll on Tues!

Tomorrow’s headline? Martinez said “don’t win, lads” but Januzaj Adnan of it. (Clive & Glenn are disgusted 🙉)

Absolute doom mongering. Our so-called second string isn’t as good as Belgium’s - in a game that didn’t matter - hold the back page! If we can’t get past Colombia, Sweden or Switzerland then we don’t deserve anything. Let’s just all look forward to Tuesday now 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
