    To be clear: the compromise agreed ystdy was to give Parliament a VOTE but NOT to tie the PMs hands in the EU negotiation. Nor put Parliament in charge of the negotiation. must remain a negotiating option. We agreed Clause C problematic.

    They had a meaningful vote about the meaningful vote but nobody knows what it means.

    Lords Amendment 19 wd require govmt ‘follow any direction in relation to negotiations’ approved by Commons. That wd mean govmt taking instructions (in public) on all negotiating positions. No precedent at all & guaranteed to make negotiating task impossible. It must be rejected
