Great to see bustling with energy this weekend. Plus, I got to grab a bite at two of my favorite spots in the city – Fruit Bowls and Soul to Soul Smokehouse. Go support the market and eat some delicious food this week.

The homeless and anyone else looking to cool down during the coming heat wave have options across Minneapolis and Hennepin County, officials said ahead of a heat advisory for noon to 8 p.m. Friday. It is expected to feel like more than 100 degrees out.

Thank you Sen. Klobuchar for fighting back against unprecedented, undemocratic efforts to suppress the vote.  Count Minneapolis as a partner in this work. We’re committed to making our nation-leading elections even stronger.

Conversion therapy is archaic, unethical, and cruel. MPLS passed a local policy banning the practice in 2019, and it’s long overdue to recognize it as illegal across the state. Nationwide ban must be next.

Earlier this month, my proposal to invest in communities across Minneapolis with our federal relief funding was approved on a 12-1 vote. $102 million is on the way to help reignite our city and ensure that we emerge from this pandemic stronger than ever before.

Proud to have the endorsement of Governor Tim Walz. The pandemic has tested our city and state in unprecedented ways, and we’ve navigated those challenges together. I look forward to continuing our work to move Minneapolis into a new, bright era.

Holding elected officials accountable is good. Holding people for hours against their will until they’re compelled under duress to take positions is not. This isn’t a matter of politics or policy. We should all call this behavior out for what it is: fundamentally wrong.

Twin Cities Rotary Clubs have banded together in an incredible way over the past year to help Lake Street businesses. I was able to connect with the leaders, entrepreneurs, and workers involved in the effort this weekend and thank them for their vital work.

Stopped by the pop-up vaccine clinic at the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church’s Juneteenth and anniversary celebration. The city has been working with trusted local organizations to increase our city’s vaccination rates. Grateful for Greater Friendship’s partnership.

We have an opportunity to emerge from this pandemic stronger than ever before. That starts with investing in the workers and small businesses who carried us through it and prioritizing the Black and BIPOC businesses that were hit hardest.

Our city is stronger when we invest in people. Proud to join a broad coalition of working to make sure more residents prosper through direct cash payments.

Honored to celebrate Juneteenth with so many across our city. Today and everyday, let’s recommit ourselves to the hard work of confronting the difficult truths of our past and ending the systematic racism that has plagued Black Americans in our state and city for far too long.

Today we commemorate the moment 250,000 enslaved Black Texans learned of their freedom – 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. On Juneteenth, we resolve to confront the enduring effects of institutionalized racism still present throughout our society.

Businesses like Wendy’s House of Soul have helped keep their staff safe throughout the pandemic and build community. We’re moving quickly to get direct relief to the workers and small businesses who have kept MPLS moving amid extraordinary challenges.
