Lots of (rightful!) talk about the transgressive tone and bonkers cameos. But the filmmaking itself is low-key brilliant.

Really hoping we get a making-of doc for the CHIP ‘N DALE movie. The attention to detail in capturing the distinct styles of a dozen different animation styles, often in the same scene, is truly astonishing.

The wife’s out of town and I’m too anxious to settle in and watch something. So! AMA! Ask me anything. /Film. Trekking Through Time and Space. Shelbyville. Let’s go!

  7. This was an extraordinarily fun project and I think we’ll have more to say about it soon, probably today.

  8. The season finale of is now live on the Patreon, which is the only place to hear it *for now*. It’s three and half hours long, Elijah Wood guest stars, and I like that it somehow pays off almost every story thread.

I think I’ll keep getting vicious DMs and rotten emails for the foreseeable future. I’ll always get to be the guy who “killed” /Film, as some people like to tell me often. But over the last year, we’ve gotten bigger, weirder, and more diverse. I’ll call it a win.

The number of people who have told me they love working for /Film is humbling. I think that’s the part you don’t see: we have a crew that gives a shit, about our work and about each other. I think we’re a good place to work.

No matter what changes, my goal has always been to run a movie website I would like to read. I think we do a good job, and we work from an honest, smart, enthusiastic place, where genuine love and passion form the core of our work.

We have lots of new writers and I can’t name them all. But building the next generation of /Film writers was a thrilling experience. , , , and were among the earliest hires, and now I can’t imagine the site without them.

The best thing to come out of this was being able to transform the old team into the new site leadership: , , and are remarkable humans.

It’s been a year since /Film was sold and my life was turned upside down in some pretty profound ways. Learned a lot about myself, my team, and the film community over these past 12 months. Thanks to everyone who kept reading. No thanks to the people still DM-ing to say I suck.

Have been poking at some Fredric Brown short stories and I feel very seen by this section of his Wikipedia page.

Crazy coincidence that this dork spent an entire day panic tweeting that everyone was out to get him riiiiiiight before the release of a story about how he paid hush money to a woman he exposed his dick to

RIP Vangelis, whose score for ALEXANDER suggests the greatest movie of all time, even though the movie itself is far from it.
