    I think of gov’t as a big gear with its left-side exposed, and each class as platforms of varying height. The gear should turn clockwise to help upward mobility. Instead we have one party turning it counter-clockwise and another doing the bare minimum to maintain the platforms.

    "Under the current regulations, a million-dollar home in Bay Ridge is likely getting taxed far more than a million-dollar apartment in Manhattan," with grave consequences for middle-class property owners. Justin's been talking about this issue for ages and he is absolutely right.

    While I would’ve been happy to see Jimmy G get a ring, Andy Reid has been such a good coach for so long that him not getting at least one would’ve felt wrong in the same way that Marino never winning feels wrong. Now I can go back to rooting against him without hesitation.

    This is neat. You can drag files directly into an application in the app switcher. This is useful on large monitors where dragging files all the way to the dock can be cumbersome.

    I went to a Patton Oswalt show before the 2016 election and he actually said on stage that he wanted Bernie to win...although I'm not sure about this go around, I think he's on Warren right now...not sure 🤷‍♂️

    While calling the Republican Party a power cult may see like hyperbole, is there any doubt that a large contingent of Republicans clearly do put party before democracy?

    If Republicans in Congress can't act like members of Congress first and Republicans second then the system's fundamental design stops working. We built a system around the competing incentives of branches, not the competing incentives of parties.

    Trying to ascribe conservative motives will never make sense because they aren’t conservative actions. They are the actions of a power cult. Seriously, things like this will start making total sense once you replace “conservatives” with “power cult.”
