I’Ve always has the greatest respect for Steven Pinker. This felt like a punch in the gut. I knew he was an atheist but his remarks about Christians and other religious people had always been respectful, even when being critical. These comments are just revolting and ignorant

@sapinker is deluded. Pinker seems to be implying that somehow Christians are trying to end their lives early. That is in direct contradiction to traditional Christian teachings. The reality is simple. People want to survive. Survival requires earning money. -
I think part of the problem is that Pinker may not be understanding that not everyone has a guaranteed job or independent wealth. Many want to, and frequently have to, work for food, shelter and the like.
