I respect the principles of Asian fighting styles, but I have found very very few practicioners who were genuinely good fighters. Most are so stylized that they can't react fast enough to a real opponent.

It was a lose lose for the MMA fighter. Only two possible outcomes, get knocked out/lose to a senior citizen or knock out a senior citizen. He shouldn’t have taken a fight.

Tai Chi is the yoga of Martial Arts. It might be good for stretching and remaining limber, but as a self-defense (or even an offense) skill, it's obviously a waste of time.
