It's not really about manners. Sounds seem to be extremely amplified. Normal eating, even with manners can be a problem. It is almost like super sonic hearing but to specific sounds. I don't know if that makes sense or not.

I’m pretty sure I lived with a landlord who had some form of this and didn’t know it. As a person who struggles with hearing and Meniere’s I often wonder how many suffer from this and related sound sensitivity w/o knowing. Hoping for more research/awareness.

Try adjusting diet. I have sensitivity to sounds produced by bouncing off objects. Eliminating caffeine eliminates issue...hardly ever need earplugs anymore
