Americans love cars, no question But rail conquered the continent first - and so it shall returnhttps://twitter.com/ViktoriiaUAH/status/1257674744213786631 …

I don't understand Americans disdain for travel by train. Its so much more relaxing than flying. Yes its not as fast depending on distance but is fun when you and a group travel by train. Part of the fun on the train is playing games, having drinks, and talking. Try it sometime.

Just 2 evoke envy: I used 2 know somebody on the board of a big rail freight company. B4 she passed, she used her considerable clout 2 get a private observation car (cuz a rail freight company has those) 2 take a ride up the spine of the Rockies on scenic routes no one sees.

If I'm going to be stuck in a metal cylinder travelling 3000 miles, I would rather spend LESS time in it, about 3 times less, thank you.

Meh. Just another zombie industry that cannot exist without taxpayer largesse. Exception to the rule was the Great Northern Railway when it was ran by James Hill. If high speed rail can exist on its own merits, then so be it...

Good luck touting high density trains — and housing , for that matter— after this is over.

It would be nice! However, the US has several structural constraints: Population density Freight controls the rail network (passenger HSR would thus have to be all newbuild) Cost > $1T Maintenance is 3x cost/mile of highways Property rights More below... https://twitter.com/JackPosobiec/status/1257550848575574023 …
